Dryden Development Corporation
The Dryden Development Corporation (DDC) was formed in 2007. This Corporation simplifies and streamlines the processes to help establish new businesses within the City of Dryden and surrounding area. The DDC acts as the City of Dryden's project delivery agent to meet economic development and diversification objectives relating to business retention, expansion and tourism.
Lake of the Woods Business Incentive Corporation
As a Community Futures Development Corporation, LOWBIC offers a wide variety of programs and services to support community economic development and small business growth, including: * strategic community planning and socio-economic development; * support for community-based projects; * business information and planning services; and, * access to capital for small and medium-sized businesses and social enterprises. Within its catchment area, LOWBIC strives to strengthen and diversify the local and regional economies. As a community-based, not-for-profit organization, LOWBIC is run by a board of local volunteers. It is staffed by professionals who encourage entrepreneurship and the pursuit or economic opportunities. LOWBIC is funded by the Federal Government through FedNor and with deliverables that focus on one or more of the following activities: * Business development * Skills development * Access to capital * Retention and attraction of youth * Technological enhancements
Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund
Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund (NADF) is a non-profit, independent, Aboriginal-owned and operated financial institution that provides business and financial services to Aboriginal people living in remote, non-remote, and urban communities across Northern Ontario. The main office is strategically located in the heart of our service area in Thunder Bay, Ontario and a branch office is also operated out of Timmins, Ontario.
Northwest Business Centre
The Northwest Business Centre is a provincial small business assistance centre developed in cooperation with the province, municipality, and private sector. Our mission is to empower entrepreneurs with the skills, advice, and resources needed to succeed in small business. Our services are free and are available to all community members including business owners, prospective entrepreneurs, youth, aboriginals and other minority groups, and people in certain government programs.
Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre
The Innovation Centre acts as a pivotal player in growing Northwestern Ontario?s innovation capacity. By encouraging ongoing cooperation between business, education and government, the Centre is a driving force to improve economic vitality. In addition, the Centre seeks out new approaches to improve, enhance and invigorate a commercialization system in our region.
Rainy River Future Development Corporation
The Rainy River Future Development Corporation is a membership-driven, non-profit, community-based corporation. We are governed by a Board of Directors who are elected each year from our membership. The Rainy River Future Development Corporation is supported by FedNor and Industry Canada under the Community Futures Program and the Municipalities of Alberton, Chapple, Emo, Fort Frances, La Vallee, Lake of the Woods and Rainy River.
Sioux Lookout Area Aboriginal Management Board
The Sioux Lookout Area Aboriginal Management Board was founded in November 1991 to address the employment and training needs in the geographical area. On April 1, 1999 SLAAMB became an Aboriginal Human Resources Development Agreement Holder (AHRDAH), which became responsible for the delivery of the Aboriginal Human Resources Development Strategy (AHRDS). Part of this responsibility included childcare in the Sioux Lookout Area.
