Brantford Native Housing and the Ojistoh House are always in need of committed volunteers. Volunteers are an essential component in our many events, fundraising efforts and in the striving of the Ojistoh House to fulfill its mission. We feel gratitude to the individuals that give of their time, talents and resources to contribute to a larger community effort to eliminate family violence and homelessness. In return, the volunteers can learn new skills, make new contacts and friends, as well as play an integral role in community development. Each year, the Grand River Conservation Authority undertakes many projects in partnership with groups and individuals who want to improve the environment in their local community. Given the large geographic area covered by the Grand River watershed, and the number of communities along the river, the GRCA receives scores of volunteer requests each year. Priority for partnering with volunteers is given to requests that assist with: current or ongoing projects, as opposed to new initiatives long-term vs. one-time projects, in order to develop long-term relationships projects that have no incremental (new) cost projects where the group is able to fund any incremental costs

Volunteers are the backbone of this organization. From the MS WALK and the Annual Carnation Campaign, to numerous smaller community events such as Barbeques, Breakfasts and Easter Bunny Photos, we depend on YOU the volunteer. "Special Event" volunteers are always needed. We can help you match an event to your interests, and available time. Committed individuals are needed to provide their skills and talents to our Board of Directors. Do you have an interest in or experience in marketing, sales or public relations? These skills as well as just plain enthusiam are needed for our local fundraising committee. Other volunteer opportunities include: Administrative support - general office support with no previous experience necessary. A willingness to help out for a couple of hours is all that is needed.

Haldimand-Norfolk REACH is a multi-service agency, providing children's mental health services, developmental services, Autism services, youth justice services, family services, a residential program for transitional-aged youth and several early learning and care services including licensed childcare, Ontario Early Years Centre(s) and Community Action Program for Children. REACH serves as the Lead Agency for the Student Nutrition Program in the Hamilton/Niagara Region. Through our Contact Division, the agency serves as the single point of access for children's and developmental services. REACH is recognized as a local leader in community education, advocacy, inter-sector collaboration and Community Service Planning.

St. John Ambulance volunteers give their time to provide community services to the people around them. There are several avenues for volunteers to learn new skills and use them in their communities. Volunteers learn how to become a first aid provider?delivering patient care at a variety of sporting and cultural events. They are trained and ready to provide disaster relief. Volunteers have the opportunity to gain valuable experience, including leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Adult volunteers often develop long-lasting friendships, both within the group and with the people they serve. Volunteers enjoy being an important contributor to their community. St. John Ambulance volunteers are invaluable. Our volunteers are concerned about the health, safety and quality of your life. As such, many of our volunteers are placed in a position of trust with those who are vulnerable, whether providing first aid to someone who is injured, providing leadership and guidance, caring for someone and/or mentoring young people. Our volunteers can be trusted to provide their services with expertise and confidence. Each volunteer applicant is required to comply with a volunteer screening which includes reference checks, police records checks, attestations and in some cases specialized testing. Following completion of these first steps, each volunteer will undergo orientation and training. Going forward each volunteer has an annual performance assessment to ensure that SJA meets their expectations, including their goals, skill sets and training requirements. They meet regularly to direct the United Way's operations. Campaign Cabinet Each year, 13 volunteers accept the responsibility of developing plans to raise the maximum amount of money during Campaign time. This team recruits additional volunteers as Account Executives who call on companies to solicit support for employee campaigns, corporate giving, and work place volunteers. Allocations Committee Members of the Allocations Committee visit each member agency to assess its need for United Way funding. The Committee then meets to review the funding requests and decide how much money to allocate to each program. Office Help The success of the United Way hinges on turning the maximum amount of money raised back into the community. To do this, the United Way relies on volunteer help in it's daily operations to keep overhead cost low.
