ALTERNATIVES COMMUNITY PROGRAM SERVICES (PETERBOROUGH) INC.
Alternatives is a non-profit, charitable organization designed to assist adults, diagnosed with an intellectual disability, to live interdependently in the community and to build a support netowrk of community contacts to pursue their personal interests. Support is available for individuals receiving little or no support from other agencies to achieve personal goals such as volunteer work, employment and building supports in the community. CAMPBELLFORD COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE
The Campbellford Community Resource Centre offers education, computer & continuing education programs. Loyalist College continuing education courses, employment information, government forms, corporate training, boardroom/computer lab rentals, and not-for-profit leasing opportunities. The Resource Centre is a Community Access Program (CAP) site, offering internet access and training to area residents. Adults can improve their communication and math skills at the Adult Basic Literacy Program. Our employment division offers employment supports for the unemployed or part time employed. These services include: Employment Rescource Centre: Free help and use of high-speed computers for job searching activities including internet, job postings, resume and cover letters, and employment counselling. Career Opportunities Project: A five week program assisting adults to improve their job searching and career assessment skills. Groups run monthly and over 60% of participants find employment upon completion of the program.

Provides current resource materials, equipment and professional assistance from qualified staff to individuals conducting a self-directed job search. Staff assist job seekers with all aspects of career planning, career research, resume development, cover letter content and job search strategies, search purposes, resource materials, books, newspapers and other printed materials on careers and career research. Also delivers a variety of workshops, including basis computer orientation, internet/email, resume, e-resume and mock interviews, referrals to other community and Employment Ontario agencies for more in-depth assistance related to employment needs. Services also available in outlaying areas via outreach workers.

There is qualified staff to support you in your job search, including assistance with resume/cover letter formatting, interview preparation, general computer orientation, information and referrals to other community resources, CERC also offers "First Step", a 1 hour information session introducing the services and service providers in the community that are available for assistance while job searching. ONTARIO DISABILITY SUPPORT PROGRAM - EMPLOYMENT SUPPORTS
ODSP Employment Supports is a program that supports persons with disabilities to: Find a job, advance to another job if under employed, overcome a disability-related job crisis to maintain employment and retain long-term employment. You are eligible for ODSP Employment Supports if you are a current recipient of ODSP Income Support or, if you have a disability that has been verified by a medical professional and is deemed a significant barrier to employment (i.e. physical, hearing, vision, learning, developmental, mental health, cognitive, HIV/AIDS.) You must be at least 16 years of age, living in Ontario, be legally entitled to work in Canada, be able to prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment. Some of the supports you may be eligible for assistance with are establishing realistic career goals and addressing barriers to employment. Developing job search strategies, resume development and interview tips. Connecting you to employers for interviews and networking. Assistance with information and resources to start your own business and adaptive technology, such as hearing aids.
